Augusta L Staeben

Augusta was born in March 1863 in Wisconsin in the United States to Frederick Staeben and Elizabeth "Minnie" Rotham. She was the sixth of thirteen children, eight boys and four girls.

In 1870 she was seven years old and lived in Greenbush, Wisconsin which was valued at $400 with her parents and seven siblings. Her father was listed as a farmer.

In 1880 she was seventeen and lived in the same house with her parents and all of her siblings.  Her father was still a farmer. Augusta had an eighth grade education.

She married Wilhelm "William" Ziegler in 1884 when he was twenty three and she was twenty one.

Their first child, Clarence R., was born in July of 1885 in Wisconsin.

Their second child, Garnet Audrey, was adopted as an infant. She was born on January 8th, 1898 in New York to unknown parents.

In 1895 and 1900 they lived in Minneapolis, MN. In 1900 Clarence was ten, and Wilhelm was listed as an Engineer, most likely a train engineer.

Wilhelm died and she had remarried to Joseph W. Dunn by 1910. Joseph had a daughter named Bella who was born in 1886. I don't know if she lived with them, but she is not on the census record as a member of their household. Augusta had a son named Loren with Joseph in 1914.

By 1920 she was widowed again and still lived in Minneapolis with her six year old son and her younger brother August. She was a dressmaker, and August was a cabinet maker.

In 1930 she was sixty eight and still in Minneapolis, living with Loren and two boarders. She was not working, and Loren was delivering newspapers.

In 1935 and 1940 she was living in rural Placer Country, CA with her widowed step-daughter, Bella, Bella's divorced daughter and two of Bella's grandchildren.

We don't know when Augusta died.
