Frederick Staeben

Frederick was born on February 18th, 1827 in Mecklenburg, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany to unknown parents.

He migrated to the United States some time before 1854.

He married Elizabeth "Minnie" Rotham some time around 1854. All of their children were born in Wisconsin.

Their oldest child, William, was born in 1855.

Their second child, Lena, was born in 1857.

Their third child, Otto, was born in February of 1858.

Their fourth child, Adolph, was born in 1859.

Their fifth child, Herman, was born on January 2nd, 1862.

Their sixth child, Augusta L, was born in March of 1863.

Their seventh child, Hugo, was born in late 1863 or early 1864.

Their eighth child, Edward, was born in January of 1865.

Their ninth child, Emma, was born on October 27th, 1867.

Their tenth child, Amelia, was born on October 2nd, 1870.

In 1870 they lived in Greenbush, WI with eight children; William, Otto, Herman Augusta, Hugo, Edwin, Emma and Amelia, on property valued at $400.  Frederick was a farmer. William was at school, and the rest were at home. There is no mention of Lena or Adolph on the 1870 census, but they are on the 1880 census so we know they were still alive.

Their eleventh child, Frederick, was born on September 15th, 1871.

Their twelfth child, Robert, was born on May 10th, 1874.

Their thirteenth and last child, August, was born about 1877.

In 1880 Frederick and Minnie still lived on the Greenbush, WI farm with twelve of their children. Only twenty two year old Otto did not live at home.

Frederick died on August 17th, 1902 in Wisconsin, and was buried in the Union Cemetery in Plymouth, WI.
