Gladys Emma Bishop

Gladys was born on April 8th, 1897 in Fargo, North Dakota, USA to Ellsworth A. Bishop and Mary Matilda Frye. Se was the second of four children, all girls.

In 1900 she was three years old, living with her parents and older sister, Nora, in Fargo. Her father was a railroad conductor. She left school after the eighth grade.

In 1910 she was thirteen and had moved to Duluth, MN with her parents. She now had a younger sister named Grace.

She married Harvey Leonard Nichols some time around 1918.

Their first child, Duane Ellsworth, was born on March 9th, 1919 in Duluth, Minnesota.

In 1920 she was twenty three and living with her husband in Duluth, Minnesota. He worked as a railroad breakman for DM & N Railroad.

Their second child, Ralph Leonard, was born on January 7th, 1928 in Duluth.

In 1930 she was thirty three years old, still lived with Harvey in Duluth, with their two children. Harvey listed himself as an unemployed RR breakman.

Their third child, Beverly J., was born in 1933. 

In 1940 they lived at 526 W 4th St, Proctor, MN. Harvey was working as a railroad conductor and they owned their home, which was valued at $1900. He earned $1444 dollars per year. Their two younger children, Ralph and Beverly J., still lived at home.

In 1960 she was sixty three years old and was living at 626 4th P, Duluth, MN with Harvey, who still worked as a railroad conductor.

She married Harvey Leonard Nichols and they had three children;  Duane Ellsworth, Ralph Leonard, and Beverly J.

She died on April 5th, 1975 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA at the age of seventy seven. She was buried at the Oneota Cemetery, Duluth, Minnesota.
