William was born on August 4th, 1798 in Melchbourne, Bedfordshire, England to James Dickerson and Elizabeth Thornton. He was the fifth of seven children, three boys and four girls.
He was baptized on October 14th, 1798 in Melchbourne.
He married Francis "Fannie" Dunkley on January 5th, 1820 when he was twenty one and she was nineteen. They had thirteen children together. All were born in England.
Their first child, Elizabeth, was born on April 14th, 1821.
Their second child, Sarah, was born on April 18th, 1822.
Their third child, William, was born on December 28th, 1825.
Their fourth child, John, was born on April 2nd, 1827.
Their fifth child, James, was born on January 11th, 1830.
Their sixth and seventh children, Mary Mays and Ann, were born on October 11th, 1832.
Their eighth child, Joseph, was born on September 12th, 1834.
Their ninth child, Rosehannah Mary, was born on April 7th, 1838.
Their tenth child, Benjamin, was born on March 28th, 1841. he died on April 15th, 1843 at just two years old.
Their eleventh child, Louisa, was born on February 13th, 1845.
Their first daughter, Elizabeth, died on February 1st, 1847 in Huntington, England at the age of twenty five. She was married with at least one child.
In 1861 they lived in Winwick, Bedfordshire, England with their son William, his wife Elizabeth and four grandchildren.
William and Fanny came overland to the Utah territory in 1863 when they were sixty five and sixty three years old.
In 1870 they lived in American Fork in the Utah Territory in a house valued at $200.
Fannie died on May 26th, 1876 at seventy five years of age.
William died on April 7th, 1879 in American Fork, UT from the complications of heat stroke at eighty years old. He was buried in the American Fork Cemetery.
