From the typed copy of "Family Histor of William Millar Sr." given to me by my grandfather, Roldand Edward Miller. I do not know who wrote it:
"William Millar Sr. died about 1837, he was a Wheel Wright by trade. He was killed when a scaffold gave way on which he was standing. This was at Keeler's Brae. He was a very heavy and exceedingly strong man, although being about 5 ft. 5 in. tall, yet he was 36 inches across the shoulders. His father fought in the Covenanter Army. It is supposed at the time of the reformation, the Millar family were in Germany (Germans) and that they left on account of troublesome times and went to Scotland, and that their name was originally Mueller, and that it was changed so that they could not be traced. In 1845, the family moved to Alva so they could get more work. Alva is in Sterlingshire at the foot of the Ochil Hills, and Woolen mills were located there.
He died on September 4th, 1838 in Keelers Brae, Clackmananshire, Scotland at the age of forty nine.
